Some of you know that I've been under the weather for the last few days. Consequently, I have spent a lot of time laying on my couch and watching the Food Network. About three straight days, save for a couple of church gigs. This is different from my normal schedule only in that I am usually not sick.
Because I was too tired to change the channel, that meant I had to watch a lot of Rachael Ray. Unlike many, I don't find her or her show to be that fun to watch. I am also tired of seeing her on my boxes of Reduced Fat Triscuits. But I digress.
I submit for your consideration a conversation I had earlier today online which conveys a new and even deeper sadness at the American condition.

i do not find her hot like many others do
but she always uses a garbage bowl

so you don't have to keep running to the garbage can

and then when you DO have to get up

you can take the bowl with you
so instead of making two separate trips to throw away the can of soda and the wrapper from the ice cream sandwich
you can make ONE trip

it's the same kind of intellectual appeal
so then the lesson here is, we overthink things way too much
i think the secret here is to remember that most people aren't as smart as us

I'm just enjoying the irony of you, sitting on your couch unable to change the channel with your remote, complaining about people who can't seem to walk the 10-20 feet to get to a garbage can.
